Evangeline Ross
Born in Victoria, BC and raised in Calgary, Evangeline has been working with children, youth, and families for 20 years. Her work experience includes: nannying across Canada; teacher assistant at a Head Start preschool in Philadelphia, PA; child development counsellor at women's shelter; and director of a multi-location out-of-school care program. She completed her Child and Youth Care Counsellor diploma at Mount Royal University and has continued to develop her skills and knowledge of child development, including the Brain Story Certification and Exploring Early Childhood Curriculum: Play, Possibilities, and Participation (Flight curriculum framework). Evangeline is passionate about advancing the field of early learning and child care. She believes that children learn through play and is dedicated to creating safe environments for children to be able to explore. As a leader, she is committed to supporting educators and building a team that shares this vision, ensuring that every child has access to rich, meaningful learning experiences that promote emotional, social, and cognitive development. Evangeline served on the Board of Directors of the School Age Care Society of Alberta and has led workshops, training, and conference sessions on a variety of topics for both frontline educators and leaders, including child guidance, active and engaged supervision, and building strong staff teams. Outside of work, Evangeline enjoys reading, gardening, DIY and art projects, yoga, and watching sports (especially baseball and Formula 1). She lives with her two dogs (Watson and Abbey) and two bunnies (Mickey and Bianca).
